Nicasa is now a Family Advocacy and Housing Assistance site. Low-income residents who are in need of assistance paying their water bills, rent, or day to day living expenses, can be referred to Nicasa, as they may be able to help. Family advocacy serves families in crisis – the only requirement is that they have children under the age of 18. It involves intensive case management of the family. It includes referrals and advocacy with agencies for any and all that is needed to stabilize the family as well as parent education and support programming.  These families do not have to have substance abuse issues – but these are, of course, addressed if they are present. There is no income requirement for substance abuse services

Within Family Advocacy, we are now able to initially qualify low-income families for housing vouchers through the Lake County Housing Authority. This includes filling out all the appropriate paperwork – the critical first step in obtaining housing vouchers.  After this is completed, the family will work with the Lake County Housing Authority who will complete the process. The housing will be in Lake County – excluding Waukegan and North Chicago.  Please call: (847) 546-6450
