Patrol Operations
The patrol division is primarily made up of uniformed patrol officers. Uniformed officers respond to calls for service, enforce traffic laws, and handle all criminal code violations. Included are evidence technicians, canine officer, truck enforcement officers, bicycle officers, juvenile officers, school resource officers, DARE officer, NIPAS officer, and Community Service Officers.
Our patrol division works with many outside agencies including the Major Crash Assistance Team, who investigate serious and fatal traffic crashes, the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force, who investigate serious crimes that occur through out the county, the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System, which is the area SWAT team, and the Metropolitan Enforcement Group, who investigate drug and gang crimes in the county
The investigations division is primarily made up of non-uniformed officers. Investigators conduct follow up interviews, in depth case investigation, as well as additional resources to the patrol division.
