Garbage Pickup / Other Waste

The Village uses Waste Management as our waste hauler. Their contact information is as follows:

The holidays for Waste Management this year are:

  • New Years Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

Garbage will be picked up the following day after the holiday.

Waste Management requests that garbage be put out to the roadside with the handle of carts facing the house by 6:00 AM day of pickup or after 6:00 PM the night before.

Please contact Waste Management with complaints on the driver or service.

Residents North of Route 120

Garbage and Recycling pick-up is on Mondays from 6:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Residents are encouraged not to place their garbage cans at the curb before 6:00 p.m. Sunday nights and to remove them by 6:00 a.m. on Tuesdays.

Residents South of Route 120

Garbage and Recycling pick-up is on Tuesdays from 6:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Residents are encouraged not to place their garbage cans at the curb before 6:00 p.m. Monday nights and to remove them by 6:00 a.m. on Wednesdays.

Most furniture items will be picked up if they are placed next to the can. Diabetics may request a hazardous materials container or may place used syringes in empty milk bottles secured with the lid.

Your regular garbage pick-up may not include any of the following:

  • yard waste (grass clippings, leaves, twigs etc.)
  • building debris
  • large appliances

If you need to have any of the above items picked up, you must make special arrangements with Waste Management (Call 800-796-9696 for details on billing and what items will be accepted or Barb's Salvage for large appliances 847-973-0105).

The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO) makes compost bins available to county residents through a variety of sales dates and locations. Residents can choose from two different compost bins: the "Earth Machine" stationary model ($20) and the "Tumbler" model ($70).
