MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 21 to 34 years of ago, or as otherwise provided in 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6
  • U.S. Citizen
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain a valid Illinois Firearm Owners Identification Card
  • Good moral character
  • Successfully pass a written examination, P.O.W.E.R test, oral interview, pre-employment background investigation, psychological exam, polygraph exam, and medical exam
  • No felony or certain misdemeanor convictions

 Application Availability       

Beginning January 30, 2017, applications will be available for download by selecting: Police Officer Employment Application or in person at the Round Lake Police Department, 741 Townline Road, Round Lake, Illinois 60073, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m.

 Application Deadline Applications must be submitted in person at the Round Lake Police Department, 741 Townline Road, Round Lake, Illinois no later than April 17, 2017 at Noon. Please complete and return the  Police Officer Recruitment Checklist along with your application Applications will not be accepted by mail or courier and any application submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

Orientation A MANDATORY orientation session will be held at the Round Lake Police Department Community Room, 741 Townline Road, Round Lake, Illinois 60073 on April 5, 2017 at 6:30 p.m.

P.O.W.E.R. Test At the time of application, applicants must present a NIPSTA POWER Test card (www.nipsta.org) or a P.O.W.E.R. Test card from Joliet Junior College (www.jjc.edu) showing proof of successful test completion in the 12 months prior to April 18, 2017.

 Written Examination The written examination will be held at Park Campus School, 400 West Townline Road, Round Lake, Illinois 60073 on April 19, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Applicants must present a valid government issued photo identification card for entry into the testing area.

Additional Examinations  Applicants who successfully complete the physical agility test and written examination will be required to submit to additional testing, including oral interviews, pre-employment background investigation, psychological assessment, polygraph examination, and medical examination.
